Detection
of bovine leukemia virus by polimerase chain reaction in dried blood spots
using a membrane system of new format
Abstract
A method of bovine leukemia virus detection by polymerase chain
reaction (PCR) in dried blood spots was developed utilizing a membrane system
of new format for sample collection. Results of analysis of liquid and dried
samples of cows’ whole blood were in full agreement along with the data of a
veterinary laboratory. It was found that to perform analysis it is possible to
use any part of a membrane strip (0.5×0.5 cm) with an applied sample. Provirus DNA was stable
in dried blood spots during 8 days storage at 37oC and 24 hours
storage at 60oC. New sampling system of whole blood in a form of
dried spots can be used for field collection of samples followed by their
analysis in a laboratory.
